Company History
Environmental Engineers, Inc. was founded as Mackin Environmental, Inc. in 1988 by Louis Mackin. From 1988 to 1998, Mackin Environmental, Inc. performed numerous Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and Asbestos Surveys throughout the Southeastern United States. Anne Gilbert and Henry Fisher succeeded Mr. Mackin in 1998 and Mackin Environmental, Inc. became Environmental Engineers, Inc. (EEI).

Since 1998, EEI has performed over 1,000 Phase I ESAs for commercial, wireless communications, residential, and government sites throughout the Southeastern United States, and has prepared more than 800 National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) checklists for wireless communications facilities. EEI has performed numerous Asbestos Surveys throughout Alabama, as well as Best Management Practices (BMP) Plans, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans, and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting, registration, compliance monitoring, and sampling for commercial/industrial facilities and residential developments. EEI has also performed soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling related to underground storage tank closure assessments, Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, and biosolids land application facilities. In 2008 EEI added industrial services (industrial cleaning, tank cleaning, sump and oil/water separator cleaning, vacuum truck services, steam/high pressure cleaning, sludge cleanup and removal, and spill cleanup) and remediation services (excavation, transportation, and disposal of contaminated soil; underground storage tank (UST) removal/closure with, or without, site assessment activities; remediation of soil and/or groundwater at contaminated sites utilizing the most cost effective remedial method(s); and demolition of structures, whether they be contaminated, upgraded, or no longer used.)
